Restoring
Fallen Leaders is a 24 page handbook presenting the biblical
principles and practices for seeking the restoration of a morally
fallen pastor or Christian leader.
It comes out of several years of experience by Dr. Germaine
working with teams of people seeking to assist a fallen leader
experience true restoration.
Restoration is defined as, “The process of the renewing
of the mind and the rebuilding of relationships which have been
severely damaged or destroyed by the immorality of the pastor or
Christian leader.”
The booklet explains and promotes the use of a “Restoration
Team” to work with the person seeking restoration rather than
just one individual carrying that burden alone. As
such it consists of team-based spiritual direction.
The biblical base for this approach
is found in Galatians 6:1-2:
“Brothers,
if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should
restore him gently. But
watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will
fulfill the law of Christ.” NIV
The goals of the restoration process are to see the person restored to God,
to himself, to his family, and to the body of Christ.
The formation, role, responsibilities, etc. of the team are clearly
explained, as is the process of restoration from beginning to end.
The booklet explains what to look for in selecting team
members, how to begin, continue, and conclude the process,
resources the team can turn to, etc.
This
booklet will be an invaluable resource for anyone who cares enough
about a fallen pastor or Christian leader to want to see that
person restored rather than shunned, or just moved on to another
ministry where the same pattern would in all likelihood repeat
itself.
